(Ph/Jessie – We the Peopleand Charlotte)

Day one of fashion week had me peacocking around in a pleasingarray of color-block, with matching pop-bright nails et al. And while this would normally keep me entertained for at least a good five days in the real world, fashion week calls for a daily show from top to toe[nail]. And if that means changing yourMaybelline colorshowpolishto ensure that it compliments your attire, so be it. After all, just like accessories are the full stop to any good outfit, nails are the signature at the bottom of the page. Without them, you are nothing but an unfinished sketch.

Consider this: you can look as graphic as theBuren columns, but if your nails are singing out of tune, then the overall sartorial performance simply goes tits up. Lesson to be learned: if you’re gonna follow suit, then leave your pretty pastels and polished nudes at home.

There you have it. Day 2 had me embracing Ghesquiere-worthy volumes in a look thatresembledthat of a newly trained NASA recruit – one that is obsessed with blown up proportions, simplistic shapes, and likes his nails dramatic in onyx hues. Hey, it’s plausible! Astronauts like to look chic too, you know. And even if it isn’t (astrodynamics may not be my forte, but I’m guessing loss of gravity may not be nail lacquer’s best friend), point is we are not in space (although given some of the looks I got from the Sunday strollers in front of the Topshop venue this morning, I may as well have been), so shoot for the moon. By which I mean, paint your nails black, duh.
