The first image of Alexander Wang's inaugural Balenciaga campaign was revealed yesterday, and I'm liking what I (don't really) see. Pictured, Kristen McMenamy's backside, clad in what was one of his first ever looks for the illustrious French maison (iconic was the word that sprang to mind, but Intelligent Life magazine has put me on detox) and a bold new logo (one that is perhaps a little overwhelming considering that they have slapped it bang in the middle, despite the fact everything else seems to play by suggestion). Then again, new man, new rules.
I for one was impressed by his sleek debut collection, especially the cracked marble patterns, and am excited to see the rest of the fall story. If this image is anything to go by, I'm guessing the focus will be on the clothes themselves and portray strong emotions - that clenched fist certainly speaks louder than a facial expression. I'm intrigued. What do you think?
